How To Photograph a Dolphin. So you want to photograph a dolphin? Who doesn’t? Doing it is nothing like you would imagine though. It’s both incredibly difficult and very easy at the same time. The difficult part is getting the dolphin in front of the camera. Firstly, you need a boat and a skipper and about 15 trips out to a part of the sea that dolphins are known to frequent. I’m lucky that I get to shoot a lotClick to read more and to see the event image gallery

Speedo, open water,elgin,swimming

I was lucky enough to be asked to shoot the Speedo open water swim clinic at Elgin River Lodge near Grabouw. The day was a fund raiser to help get Olympic open water swimmer Michelle Weber to the 2021 Olympic Games. Participants learnt some skills and techniques from Michelle and had a practical session in the chilly Palmiet River, which due to a good rain season is full to the brim. Big Bay Events were as usual on hand toClick to read more and to see the event image gallery

Cape Town Cycle Tour 2020. Argus.

The Cape Town Cycle Tour is held annually in the Western Cape of South Africa. It’s a celebration of cycling and its only a real race for those at the front of the field who start before its properly light. The elite of the elite can be likened to dancers of the Argentinian tango; aggressive yet controlled, elegant and fluid, while the slightly slower vets and sub vets are performing a foxtrot and quickstep combo. Meanwhile, Joe Average (that’s youClick to read more and to see the event image gallery

AmaRider 100 mtb mountain bike race.

The Amarider 100 and 50 miler individual one-day mountain bike ultra-marathon of 160km is an annual test of MTB riders endurance. It has a super laid back vibe, but always boasts a couple of very competitive racers gunning for the top spot. From its humble beginnings in 2009 it has grown into what is now one of the must-do-events on the mountain biking calendar. The scenery is beautiful in the Swartland during Autumn and the riding is not technical. TheClick to read more and to see the event image gallery

MTB Enduro Racing

MTB Enduro Racing Based on the successful MTB Enduro racing Mavic Trans Provence concept, the idea is to bring riding and the results linked to it back to mountain biking and away from the current endurance-only formats. That said, it is not the idea to make the race highly technical as per downhill racing, but simply to focus the competition on the trails component of the sport. Durbanville Triathlon

The Durbanville Triathlon has become a ‘classic’ must do triathlon, and there is a good reason for that. It’s because it is always fun. This year the ownership of the event was taken over by Iqela Events, the people who bring you amongst others, top events like the Slanghoek Triathlon. Did the 2016 Durbanville Triathlon live up to expectations? Just look at the smiles on the faces of the people in these photos and you will have your answer. Tunnel Run

Tunnel Run Not many people know that when they built the Huguenot Tunnel through the mountains above the town of Paarl in the Western Cape of South Africa, they built a second ‘service’ tunnel alongside it. This tunnel is the same size as the onm ne used as a toll road for traffic, it just isn’t finished off with a smooth concrete lining, merely a gunite shell. A lot like an upside down swimming pool I suppose. So if notClick to read more and to see the event image gallery
